The Storm is Passing Over
Today, I left my keys at my sister's house. I walked for about two minutes before I stopped to do a quick inventory and I realized that the jingle that usually accompanies my walk was absent. My thought process went something like...(and this is strictly for author auditory and accuracy purposes, I assure you) *...ahem...*
My thought process went something like this:
Did my keys fall on the ground?
Did I leave my keys on the couch?
Did I leave them on the dresser?
YES! They are on the dresser.
I turned around and walked back to my sister's house. When I walked in, she was lying down reading the same book she had been reading when I first arrived about 45 minutes prior. I said, "Tell me the last thing you read before I walked in the door." She replied, "The storm is passing over."
I remember...
Sunni Patterson spoke about seeing despair and tragedy after Hurricane Katrina (The Great Lady she called her) ravished New Orleans in 2005. Over the past few days, Hurricane Sandy has visited many of my loved ones and loved ones of my loved ones. As Sunni says, "I'll remember early Monday morning, she came to clean our souls out."
Nature has a way of putting things on hold...pausing what is our normal day to day routine in order to get us to focus on the big picture and to remember that which really matters. The fact that she made landfall during full moon has also not gone unnoticed. Being in tune with ourselves and natural forces is imperative to our development. Also, being aware of how we affect our surroundings is also tantamount. I saw many people suggesting that storms, such as Katrina and Sandy, were orchestrated by government or HAARP. My immediate thought was not whether that was the case, but regardless of which it was, do we as a people know how to shift our vibration as a collective to diminish the havoc that these storms may wreak on our communities? Just a thought.
"O courage, my soul, and let us journey on,
For tho’ the night is dark, it won’t be very long.
O thanks be to God, the morning light appears,
And the storm is passing over, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
The storm is passing over,
Hallelujah!
O billows rolling high, and thunder shakes the ground,
The lightnings flash, and tempest all around,
But Jesus walks the sea and calms the angry waves,
And the storm is passing over, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
The storm is passing over,
Hallelujah!
The stars have disappeared, and distant lights are dim,
My soul is filled with fears, the seas are breaking in.
I hear the Master cry, “Be not afraid, ’tis I,”
And the storm is passing over, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
The storm is passing over,
Hallelujah!
Now soon we shall reach the distant shining shore,
Then free from all the storms, we’ll rest forevermore.
And safe within the veil, we’ll furl the riven sail,
And the storm will all be over, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
The storm is passing over,
Hallelujah!"
Stay safe and take care of each other, Family. You are Divine.
Be Peace...Be Love...Be Better

The Calm
There is the calm before the storm...the calm in the eye of the storm...and the calm after the storm. The calm after the storm can be an extremely challenging time for those who have been hit the hardest by a storm. Emotionally, mentally, spiritually, physically...be there for your loved ones. Say things that you may usually wait to say. You know...those things that really matter like, "I love you." "You are appreciated." "I am proud of you.", etc.
My sister continued to read out of her book:
For tho’ the night is dark, it won’t be very long.
O thanks be to God, the morning light appears,
And the storm is passing over, Hallelujah!
