Women's Wisdom Wednesdays: Pretty Wings

Pretty Wings

In October, I walked away from a 2 year, on-again-off-again, long distance relationship.  Almost every time that I speak to him, he says that whenever he hears Maxwell's song, "Pretty Wings" he thinks of me.

Since October, I have had moments where I questioned my choices and my decisions, both in the relationship and in deciding to leave.

On Sunday, I was at my little sister's house.  I picked up a book on her bookshelf and, in it, Iyanla Vanzant said something about knowing that you have done the best that you could have done in any given situation, based on who you were and what you had at your disposal at the time.

Think about it...

Sometimes, we do something and then we think,
"I could have been nicer..."
"I could have been more patient..."
"I could have tried a little harder to understand..."

But, the bottom line is...if you could have (and probably, even more importantly, if you truly wanted and/or needed to), you would have.

You Can't Fly with One Wing

Yesterday, on my flight from Barbados to NYC, I watched Sparkle for the first time.  I found myself in tears...on a plane...with people next to me...but, at least, as Erykah sang...I had a window seat.  (Silver lining in every cloud, eh?)

So...I'm watching and thinking what an amazing talent we lost in Whitney Houston (RIP) and how, sometimes, life throws some speedy curve balls at us...even though I know we are already standing with our feet planted wide apart and waiting with the catcher's mitt raised in our hand...sometimes, at least on a physical level, those curve balls still take us by surprise.

But, what can we do?
How do we make sure that we are ready for anything that life brings to us...for anything that we ourselves have created and set into motion?
First, we have to realize that many of us are not flying with both wings.  Many of us are only half-wishing, half-believing, half-loving, half-living.

In my personal case, I can say that I recognize that I have never once given all of me to another individual.  Not because I didn't want to...but because, I had yet to under-over-innerstand (that's some "ish Conscious people say" stuff right there...please indulge me) what "all of me" entails.

I know there are times when I could have done more, in every area of my life.  I grew up in a household where NOTHING done half-assed was tolerated.  Either you give your all, or you sit down and shut up.  We don't understand what half-way is in my family.  And yet...when it comes to relationships outside of the household, whether personal or business, I held myself back many times.  That has proved to be detrimental to my possible growth and the possible growth of others.

And yet...it is never too late to make a change in our habits.

Commit to the Process

For 2013, I am fully committing to the process, whichever process/processes may arise.
I am taking more time to actively know more about everything I am passionate about and, at the top of that list, is ME.

There are so many aspects to my person and my Self that I have yet to acknowledge and/or unlock.  In order to be free to fly my pretty wings (plural) around, I have to access as much of me as I can and I recognize that I cannot do that while doing the same things I have in the past or with the same thinking that previously kept me grounded.

Albert Einstein said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Change something...anything...but, make sure it is a change for the better.
Commit to the process.
Be courageous.

Affirm: I commit to being the best me and doing all the work that it takes to achieve this.

Fly High!

Be Peace...Be Love...Be Better

Women's Wisdom Wednesdays: What a Difference a Week Makes

What a Difference a Week Makes

I am in the middle of planning two workshops for My Empowerment, My Way.  The Goddess Series, a workshop that I birthed last year, will be debuting in two new cities: Jersey City, NJ and Washington, DC.  In approximately one week, I will be writing this blog from another room in another country with another topic or view point trying to come forth.  And that made me think, "What a difference a week makes!!"

Transformation Time

So...a little known fact about your girl, Esh...I LOVE (like, times infinity) transformation.  Whether that is of an individual that you can read about (think Malcolm X's autobiography) or that you watch on a reality show (think Extreme Makeover: Home Edition), I am all for it!

Today, I was watching re-runs of The Biggest Loser.  That is one of my favorite shows because you get to see people go through so many changes and, at the weigh in every week, you can see and measure change; and I don't just mean on the scale.  When we change in one area, many times we find that we begin to change in other areas of well.  If we are healing on a physical level, sometimes (not always, but sometimes) the mental, spiritual, emotional change follows immediately.  I have seen people change all my life.  In the line of work that I do, "success" is usually measured by change.  Most importantly, I have found that once we begin to change on an individual level, the whole or collective begins to change as well.

Commitment Time

Now, let's look at the things in our lives that we are going to work on changing in the next week.  These things could range from the tone of voice you use when you pick up your phone to the amount of cayenne you put on your food.  Literally...anything you choose.  To be really real, once you can see a positive outcome, go for it!  We can all find ways to be better in our day to day experiences. Maybe your commitment could simply be to take the next week to shift the way you view things in your life so you are able to see what areas are crying out for changes, for a difference, for some new energy to be injected into them.

Share with us the things you are willing to commit to changing in the next week.  Let's hold each other accountable.

In the next week, and hopefully, for the rest of my life...I will be making a commitment to change my pesky little habit of worrying about things that I have no control over.  If you can change it...why worry?  If you can't change it...why worry?  Why worry...ever? (Please...don't even attempt to answer that question.)

Let us know what you come up with.  We'll be right beside you...EVERY step of the way.

Be Peace...Be Love...Be Better

Women's Wisdom Wednesdays: Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast

"Certain as the Sun rising in the East; tale as old as time...song as old as rhyme; Beauty and the Beast."

Happy New Year!!!  Well...Happy New Calendar Year.
While many of us recognize that we can become a "New Me" every and/or any day of the year, many of us do still see the beginning of the year on January 1st as a wonderful platform to utilize to assist us to jump regally into the beauty-full pool of energy that is life.

On New Year's Eve, I was sitting in my bedroom and "Beauty and the Beast" by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson began to play on the radio in my living room.  I began to think of the duality of "beauty" and "beast" that exists inside of each of us.

Cherokee Wisdom

A Grandfather from the Cherokee Nation was talking with his grandson.

"A fight is going on inside me," ... he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight between two wolves."

The young grandson listened intently.

"One wolf is evil, unhappy, and ugly; he is anger, envy, war, greed, selfishness, sorrow, regret, guilt, resentment, inferiority/superiority, false pride, coarseness, and arrogance. He spreads lies, deceit, fear, hatred, blame, scarcity, poverty, and divisiveness."

"The other wolf is beautiful and good; he is friendly, joyful, loving, worthy, serene, humble, kind,
benevolent, just, fair, empathetic, generous, honest, compassionate, grateful, brave, and inspiring resting wholeheartedly in deep vision beyond ordinary wisdom."

The grandson paused in deep reflection of what his grandfather had just said. Then he exclaimed;
"Oyee!" (in recognition).

Grandfather continued;
"This same fight is going on inside you, and inside all human beings as well."

The grandson paused in deep reflection and recognition of what his grandfather had just said. Then he finally cried out deeply;

"Oyee! Grandfather, which wolf will win this horrific war?"

The elder Cherokee replied,

"The wolf that you feed. That wolf will surely win!"

*****

I can honestly and sincerely say that the Beast inside of me is nowhere near as strong as it was at the beginning of 2012.  I can also say that I have seen so many of my loved ones go through so many changes and, the more they have gone through, the more they have worked to ensure that the "good wolf"...the "beauty" if you will, is the dominant energy that inhabits them and that they share this with others.

Accepting Responsibility

Over the last year, I have exclaimed (repeatedly, mind you) "I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING!" That turned out to be my reaction to a great many situations that unfolded in my life.  However, today I was able to take time to re-assess my thought process building up to the "shock" that I felt whenever something turned out other than how my person would have liked for it to turn out.  Today, I had a moment where I recognized that I created ALL of the things that I thought were a "shock" to me.  Even situations that, at first glance, I couldn't have directly influenced.  My thoughts helped to shape the way things played out, just as all of our thoughts do in our lives.

When we accept responsibility for the things that are occurring in and around us, we are then able to erase the whole 'victim-why me-woe is me' mentality and use the energy that would usually go into that to actually create additional circumstances that will give us an opportunity to grow and evolve.

Let's be thank-full for the ways in which we have all grown in the last year, in the last decade, throughout this life and past lives, too.  Let's also be thank-full for who we are, right in this moment.  Let's love ourselves, unconditionally and unapologetically.  As within, so without.

Be Peace...Be Love...Be Better

Women's Wisdom Wednesdays: Lessons of Life

Lessons of Life

"Life is about how you react to what comes to you...if you fail to prepare, you have prepared to fail."

~ taken from Ra Un Nefer Amen's 'Heru: The Resurrection'

Over the last few days, I have had a lot of quiet time, a lot of me time and a lot of family time.  I have had a lot of "I choose who shares my sacred space" time, and I have been connecting with those who have been strategically placed by Spirit to assist me in reaching and realizing the things that I need to be recognizing at this time in space.

One thing that continues to come up for my person is taking time out to notice the situations and subsequent lessons that I constantly create in my life.  I personally believe in reincarnation; that our souls return to inhabit the Earth to constantly interact and co-exist with others, while gaining more knowledge, wisdom, karma, and experiences over time.  Because of that belief, I also believe that our souls choose which situations will assist us to evolve the most in each lifetime.

There is a story that outlines this concept magnificently.  It is the story of the Little Soul and the Sun as told by Neale Donald Walsch in his book, Conversations with God.  For purposes of accuracy and just because I really love this story, I will reprint it below:

The Little Soul and The Sun

Once upon no time, there was a little Soul who said to God, "I know who I am."

And God said, "That's wonderful! Who are you?"

And the Little Soul shouted, "I'm the Light!"

God smiled a big smile. "That's right!" God exclaimed. "You are the Light."

The Little Soul was so happy, for it had figured out what all the souls in the Kingdom were there to figure out.

"Wow," said the Little Soul, "this is really cool!"

But soon, knowing who it was was not enough. The Little Soul felt stirrings inside, and now wanted to be who it was. And so the Little Soul went back to God (which is not a bad idea for all souls who want to be Who They Really Are) and said,

"Hi, God! Now that I know Who I am, is it okay for me to be it?"

And God said, "You mean you want to be Who You Already Are?"

"Well," replied the Little Soul, "it's one thing to know Who I Am, and another thing altogether to actually be it. I want to feel what it's like to be the Light!"

"But you already are the Light," God repeated, smiling again.

"Yes, but I want to see what that feels like!" cried the Little Soul.

"Well," said God with a chuckle, "I suppose I should have known. You always were the adventuresome one."

Then God's expression changed. "There's only one thing..."

"What?" asked the Little Soul.

"Well, there is nothing else but the Light. You see, I created nothing but what you are; and so, there is no easy way for you to experience yourself as Who You Are, since there is nothing that you are not."

"Huh?" said the Little Soul, who was now a little confused.

"Think of it this way," said God. "You are like a candle in the Sun. Oh, you're there all right. Along with a million, gazillion other candles who make up the Sun. And the sun would not be the Sun without you. Nay, it would be a sun without one of its candles...and that would not be the Sun at all; for it would not shine as brightly. Yet, how to know yourself as the Light when you are amidst the Light - that is the question."

"Well," the Little Soul perked up, "you're God. Think of something!"

Once more, God smiled. "I already have," God said. "Since you cannot see yourself as the Light when you are in the Light, we'll surround you with darkness."

"What's darkness?" the Little Soul asked.

God replied, "It is that which you are not."

"Will I be afraid of the dark?" cried the Little Soul.

"Only if you choose to be," God answered. "There is nothing, really, to be afraid of, unless you decide that there is. You see, we are making it all up. We are pretending."

"Oh," said the Little Soul, and felt better already.

Then God explained that, in order to experience anything at all, the exact opposite of it will appear. "It is a great gift," God said, "because without it, you could not know what anything is like. You could not know Warm without Cold, Up without Down, Fast without Slow. You could not know Left without Right, Here without There, Now without Then."

"And so," God concluded, "when you are surrounded with darkness, do not shake your fist and raise your voice and curse the darkness. Rather be a Light unto the darkness, and don't be mad about it. Then you will know Who You Really Are, and all others will know, too. Let your Light shine so that everyone will know how special you are!"

"You mean it's okay to let others see how special I am?" asked the Little Soul.

"Of course!" God chuckled. "It's very okay! But remember,'special' does not mean 'better.' Everybody is special, each in their own way! Yet many others have forgotten that. They will see that it is okay for them to be special only when you see that it is okay for you to be special."

"Wow," said the Little Soul, dancing and skipping and laughing and jumping with joy. "I can be as special as I want to be!"

"Yes, and you can start right now," said God, who was dancing and skipping and laughing right along with the Little Soul.

"What part of special do you want to be?"

"What part of special?" the Little Soul repeated. "I don't understand."

"Well," God explained, "being the Light is being special, and being special has a lot of parts to it. It is special to be kind. It is special to be gentle. It is special to be creative. It is special to be patient. Can you think of any other ways it is special to be?"

The Little Soul sat quietly for a moment. "I can think of lots of ways to be special!" the Little Soul then exclaimed. "It is special to be helpful. It is special to be sharing. It is special to be friendly. It is special to be considerate of others!"

"Yes!" God agreed, "and you can be all of those things, or any part of special you wish to be, at any moment. That's what it means to be the Light."

"I know what I want to be, I know what I want to be!" the Little Soul announced with great excitement. "I want to be the part of special called 'forgiving'. Isn't it special to be forgiving?"

"Oh, yes," God assured the Little Soul. "That is very special."

"Okay," said the Little Soul. "That's what I want to be. I want to be forgiving. I want to experience myself as that."

"Good," said God, "but there's one thing you should know."

The Little Soul was becoming a bit impatient now. It always seemed as though there were some complication.

"What is it?" the Little Soul sighed.

"There is no one to forgive."

"No one?" The Little Soul could hardly believe what had been said.

"No one!" God repeated. "Everything I have made is perfect. There is not a single soul in all creation less perfect than you. Look around you."

It was then that the Little Soul realized a large crowd had gathered. Souls had come from far and wide ~ from all over the Kingdom ~ for the word had gone forth that the Little Soul was having this extraordinary conversation with God, and everyone wanted to hear what they were saying. Looking at the countless other souls gathered there, the Little Soul had to agree. None appeared less wonderful, less magnificent, or less perfect than the Little Soul itself. Such was the wonder of the souls gathered around, and so bright was their Light, that the Little Soul could scarcely gaze upon them.

"Who, then, to forgive?" asked God.

"Boy, this is going to be no fun at all!" grumbled the Little Soul. "I wanted to experience myself as One Who Forgives. I wanted to know what that part of special felt like."

And the Little Soul learned what it must feel like to be sad. But just then a Friendly Soul stepped forward from the crowd.

"Not to worry, Little Soul," the Friendly Soul said, "I will help you."

"You will?" the Little Soul brightened. "But what can you do?"

"Why, I can give you someone to forgive!"

"You can?"

"Certainly!" chirped the Friendly Soul. "I can come into your next lifetime and do something for you to forgive."

"But why? Why would you do that?" the Little Soul asked. "You, who are a Being of such utter perfection! You, who vibrate with such a speed that it creates a Light so bright that I can hardly gaze upon you! What could cause you to want to slow down your vibration to such a speed that your bright Light would become dark and dense? What could cause you ~ who are so light that you dance upon the stars and move through the Kingdom with the speed of your thought--to come into my life and make yourself so heavy that you could do this bad thing?"

"Simple," the Friendly Soul said. "I would do it because I love you."

The Little Soul seemed surprised at the answer.

"Don't be so amazed," said the Friendly Soul, "you have done the same thing for me. Don't you remember? Oh, we have danced together, you and I, many times. Through the eons and across all the ages have we danced. Across all time and in many places have we played together. You just don't remember."

"We have both been All Of It. We have been the Up and the Down of it, the Left and the Right of it. We have been the Here and the There of it, the Now and the Then of it. We have been the male and the female, the good and the bad; we have both been the victim and the villain of it."

"Thus have we come together, you and I, many times before; each bringing to the other the exact and perfect opportunity to Express and to Experience Who We Really Are. And so," the Friendly Soul explained further, "I will come into your next lifetime and be the 'bad one' this time. I will do something really terrible, and then you can experience yourself as the One Who Forgives.

"But what will you do?" the Little Soul asked, just a little nervously, "that will be so terrible?"

"Oh," replied the Friendly Soul with a twinkle, "we'll think of something."

Then the Friendly Soul seemed to turn serious, and said in a quiet voice, "You are right about one thing, you know."

"What is that?" the Little Soul wanted to know.

"I will have to slow down my vibration and become very heavy to do this not-so-nice thing. I will have to pretend to be something very unlike myself. And so, I have but one favour to ask of you in return."

"Oh, anything, anything!" cried the Little Soul, and began to dance and sing, "I get to be forgiving, I get to be forgiving!"

Then the Little Soul saw that the Friendly Soul was remaining very quiet.

"What is it?" the Little Soul asked. "What can I do for you? You are such an angel to be willing to do this for me!"

"Of course this Friendly Soul is an angel!" God interrupted. "Everyone is! Always remember: I have sent you nothing but angels."

And so the Little Soul wanted more than ever to grant the Friendly Soul's request. "What can I do for you?" the Little Soul asked again.

"In the moment that I strike you and smite you," the Friendly Soul replied, "in the moment that I do the worst to you that you could possible imagine ~ in that very moment..."

"Yes?" the Little Soul interrupted, "yes...?"

"Remember Who I Really Am."

"Oh, I will!" cried the Little Soul, "I promise! I will always remember you as I see you right here, right now!"

"Good," said the Friendly Soul, "because, you see, I will have been pretending so hard, I will have forgotten myself. And if you do not remember me as I really am, I may not be able to remember for a very long time. And if I forget Who I Am, you may even forget Who You Are, and we will both be lost. Then we will need another soul to come along and remind us both of Who We Are."

"No, we won't!" the Little Soul promised again. "I will remember you! And I will thank you for bringing me this gift ~ the chance to experience myself as Who I Am.

" And so, the agreement was made. And the Little Soul went forth into a new lifetime, excited to be the Light, which was very special, and excited to be that part of special called Forgiveness.

And the Little Soul waited anxiously to be able to experience itself as Forgiveness, and to thank whatever other soul made it possible. And at all the moments in that new lifetime, whenever a new soul appeared on the scene, whether that new soul brought joy or sadness--and especially if it brought sadness--the Little Soul thought of what God had said.

"Always remember," God had smiled, "I have sent you nothing but angels."

by Neale Donald Walsch, Conversations With God

Beauty-Full and Pain-full...at the Same Damn Time!

Today, I was talking to my sister, Daark.  I asked her, "What do you think your lesson for this lifetime is?"  She replied, "NON ATTACHMENT".  I smiled, thinking how very pain-full that lesson could be, yet how very beauty-full it must be to come to that realization and work towards it.

When speaking to my sister, Carla (don't ask, I have a million and then some sisters) she said, "We will encounter pain, but once we know that it was chosen by us, the pain is much more bearable."

Do you agree?

I think that my lifetime lesson this time around is PATIENCE.

No matter what other lesson I am learning, from unconditional love to forgiveness to being compassionate, to communicating across various barriers that are usually self-imposed, etc...patience is always tied up in there somewhere.

So now, I am choosing to put myself in more situations that will help me to cultivate patience.  The more I have to be patient, the sooner it will be a natural reaction and take the place of old habits.

Reflection Time

"We do not learn from experience...we learn from reflecting on experience."
~ John Dewey

So, take a moment and reflect and access the things that you have come into contact with and what you learned from them.  Places, people...the list can literally go on and on.This could very well assist you on your life's path.

The Universe asks very little of us.  All she asks is that we each do our part to heal Self and the World.  As Ra Un Nefer Amen said, "What (wo)man has set wrong, (wo)man can and must set right."

Be the Creator that you are!

Women's Wisdom Wednesdays: Be Water

Be Water

The Winter Solstice is upon us.  The shortest day and longest night of the year occurs on Friday December 21st, 2012.  As the darkness overpowers the light in the balance of night and day, so should our bodies follow suit and get more rest and relaxation...physically, mentally and emotionally.

For some odd reason, I completely forgot this.  I had a very momentary, yet monumental lapse or brain fart or what have you and I decided that I have to push harder and work harder at a time when the Universe is calling for us to hibernate and regenerate.

I crashed.  Exhausted, in more ways than one, I found myself crying in front of two of my clients in one day.  I was tired...of being tired, to paraphrase the amazing Fannie Lou Hamer.  I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but I knew one thing, I was most definitely overwhelmed.

That night, sitting outside with my brother, it hit me.

I am doing too much work for this time of year.

I should be sleeping, meditating, watching and consciously creating my thoughts.  Instead, I was engaging in and attracting situations that I felt I needed to be active or "fiery" in, in order to execute a positive outcome or to solve whatever issues were at hand.  I remembered the importance of being able to be fluid...and as Abraham Hicks would say, flow downstream.

"I'm happy where I am.  I'm eager for what's coming."

So, I stopped fighting.  I decided to take a day to replenish my energy and to re-member just how power-full and divine I am.  Hence, the weekly Wednesday blog being posted on Thursday, but it feels very good to be taking time out to re-connect with Self.

For the next few days, I will also be taking time to create more affirmations that vibrate on the frequency of the things I am working on achieving and attracting in this moment.

Below is a link that I always refer to when speaking to my clients about the importance of being mind-full of the words and thoughts that we entertain or give energy to.

If thoughts can do that to our water...what can they do to us?

Be Water, My Friend

Willing you all a Happy and Peace-full Winter Solstice!

Be Peace...Be Love...Be Better

Women's Wisdom Wednesdays: Ascension Where Applicable

Ascension Where Applicable

It's 12/12/12 and all the talk about portals and shifts and new beginnings and the end of the world is filling the atmosphere and sending vibrations out that are infiltrating thoughts and situations worldwide.  Today I read an article on the portal that is occurring and the activation it brings with it. There was a line that said,

"As with everything, it all comes down to what frequency we are choosing to tune into."

Let's take a moment to think about that.  As with everything...everything in the world...every encounter...every experience we have, what truly matters is what we choose to tune into.

We'll come back to that.

Lately (and perhaps this is another side effect of 12/12/12) I notice that people are very intent on ensuring that we all know the dictionary definition for things.  For example, I saw a man put up a dictionary definition for the word "bitch".  One day, a woman commented on one of my posts and gave a background of the word "cunt"...which, according to Wikipedia, "is a word that primarily describes the female genitalia, particularly the vulva, and is widely considered to be vulgar."  However...upon further examination (inspired by the woman's comment that had many positive things to say about the "c-word")...I found a book (available on Amazon) entitled, "Cunt: A Declaration of Independence."  The book's description states:

"An ancient title of respect for women, the word “cunt” long ago veered off this noble path. Inga Muscio traces the road from honor to expletive, giving women the motivation and tools to claim “cunt” as a positive and powerful force in their lives."

Hmmmm...interesting...

Motivation and Tools

What are some ways that we can turn things from that which we were taught or indoctrinated to believe were always bad or had a negative connotation into "a positive and powerful force" in our every day lives and existence?

One of the tools I have used in my coaching practice is to do what I call a "Thought Analysis."  A thought analysis is very simple.  Let's take the word sex for example.  Now, I really need you all to try this, because it's 12/12/12 and, if what I've been reading is accurate, then we are able to absorb and tap into our Christ Consciousness like never before in this time.  Ok...now that we've got that out of the way...let's take out a sheet of paper and at the top of that sheet, write the word "SEX".

The thought analysis has two phases.  Phase 1 is as follows:
Look at a particular word, thought, sentence, construct, etc and list EVERY single thought you have under it.
Do not filter your thoughts.  Do not think about if they sound childish, pompous, inconceivable or if they just downright have no basis behind them.  That is not the function of this phase.
This phase is here for you to be free and allow your mind to empty all of your thoughts about sex onto this paper you have in front of you.
Keep in mind, you can do this for as long or as short of a time as you like. I recommend at least 15 minutes, though.

Once you have written all the thoughts you have about sex, then it is time to enter into Phase 2.  During Phase 2, look at all of the things you wrote under sex.  If you have written anything that you would deem to be negative, cross it out and move on to the next thought.  If, on the flip side, you have written down something that you consider to be a positive thought or word sound, circle it.  After moving down the list of thoughts you  poured out about sex, go back over all of the positive thoughts and build affirmations around them.  You can now use these affirmations as a tool to alter the vibration of the word "SEX" in your reality.

Today, a woman commented on one of my statuses in the hope of changing my definition for the word "compromise".  She had a very valid point when she stated (please keep in mind that this is not an exact quote, but a loose one), "You can definitely try to redefine it, but just as it has taken several hundred years to develop the sound signature that it has today...it will take just that much to do so now."

Now, I completely agree with that thought, of course...let's remember that we do live in the information age and our ideas can be transferred at a much higher speed than they could have been exchanged several hundred years ago.  Also, if we are in the middle of a shift, an alignment, an awakening...things will be happening at a much more rapid pace than in the past.

My point is this: We are Divine.  God and Goddesses that define what our reality is.  We have something called choice, as expressed in the first quote above...some may say that we have something called free will.  In that case, we choose to use words and give them a negative vibration or a positive vibration.  We choose to heal or we choose to remain in a pain-filled situation.  We choose to get upset or be at peace.  We choose to be open to new experiences or stay closed off because of our preconceived notions.  We choose to try to force our ideals on others or allow them to form their own definitions by their personal experiences and things they have encountered.

This morning, I wrote something...

You do not have to depend on others to define things for you. You don't have to limit
yourself to what people have put into "black" and "white"...and no, I am not merely talking about race.

We live in a Universe of UNLIMITED potential.
Let me say this again.
We live in a Universe of UNLIMITED potential.

Right now, in this moment, what matters is not only what you believe, but are your beliefs making you happy? Are they assisting you in your growth and healing process? Are they allowing you to make positive decisions on behalf of you, your loved ones...the world?

We live in a Universe of UNLIMITED potential.

The choice is, has always been, and will always be YOURS.

Choose wisely.

Be Peace...Be Love...Be Better

Women's Wisdom Wednesday: Who Will Save Your Soul?

Who Will Save Your Soul?

Yesterday, I got a call from one of my clients and Goddess sisters.  When I answered the phone, after our ensuring that all was well on both ends, she said, “I really called about Atiba, though…”

Atiba is my 6 year old who has completely grown in love with my friend and her family.

After securing a movie night with my sun and her nephew, I hung up the phone to watch the trailers of the movies the boys were going to watch.  I smiled to myself, thinking, ‘I am not a normal coach.’

The night before, I logged onto Facebook to see a status of another client and Goddess sister acknowledging me, because I had called her to do my duties as a coach, a sister, a friend and a Goddess.

Accountability in many areas makes me not normal in terms of my profession, but being a coach or “Sergeant” as my sister calls me is not merely a profession, but my life.

Keep in mind, this is my thought process while the trailers play in the background.  Then I heard a quote from one of the movies.  It said, “You don’t become a hero by being normal.”
Confirmation? Perhaps...
A coincidence?  There is no such thing…

Which made me start thinking about heroes.

What’s Your Purpose?

Why are you here on this Earth?  What did you come to do?  Who did you come to be a hero for?  Because, surely…everyone must be a hero.  At least, for one individual.
Jewel sings, “Who will save your souls if you won’t save your own?”

So…let’s say we’re Heroes for Self.  I’m my hero.  You’re your hero.  That, in and of itself, is an amazing and beauty-full process.
But, what else does your process entail?
What else lies in your path just waiting for you to activate it?
And…how many other heroes can you inspire?

Zig Zagler, an American motivational speaker, transitioned yesterday.  He once said,
“You will get all you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want.”
This statement, once again, brings us to accountability. For self, yes.  Most definitely.  However, that must extend to your family, friends, loved ones, colleagues, neighbors, communities, countries, the Earth…and beyond.

Last night, I attended a lecture at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill campus.  The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan is in the middle of a week of activities leading up to and culminating on Friday, which coincidentally, is the same day Barbados celebrates 46 years of Independence.  He said,
“Nobody gives you freedom, you earn it by self-development.”

In 2012, Barbados does not produce enough food to feed its inhabitants off of the land and the soil of “these fields and hills beyond recall” that are now our very own.  Our national anthem speaks fondly of a seed of pride, yet we import food that originated as seeds made by Monsanto.  Barbados is in no position to be a hero for its people.  Is any country?  I think Libya maybe, but that was before their President was killed.  My point is, we as a people are waiting for others to be our saviors…our heroes.  But, that will never happen, because this is the real world…or, what we have been conditioned to see the real world to be.  In this reality, we don’t have super heroes like Storm or the Black Panther to save us.  We must take responsibility and be accountable for our own well-being: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Approximately 4 months ago, I wrote a blog about the full moon and we made lists of ways we could improve ourselves.  With this Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse energy we are encountering this week, I implore you to re-visit that list.  Taking care of self, healing self, loving self, evolving into your higher self constantly...those are ways to ensure that you are becoming your own hero.  This time, make sure you are not merely putting ideas on paper, but being proactive and making your vision a reality.  And, if you are already well on your way, help out someone else who may need a little assistance.  As Farrakhan so eloquently put it,
"Be strong...be together, so that we may survive."
