The Sweetest Currency
"Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another."
- Albert Einstein
This morning, I was on my back porch sunbathing, sweating out toxins and basking in healing energy from that beautiful star at the center of our solar system. Then I started to think about all the different ways we absorb and exchange energy.
According to a representative of The Art of Living (a non profit organization that specializes in stress management) there are 4 ways that we take in energy:
Food
Sleep
Meditation (Peace of mind)
Breath
Sleep
Meditation (Peace of mind)
Breath
He also stated that, rather than trying to manage our time, we should manage our energy better.
While the statement was profound and made so much sense to me, I knew there were more ways for us to take in energy. Let's take music for example. You can be having a terrible day and then you may listen to Jill Scott's "Blessed" and your whole perspective shifts. I remember one day, one of my friends on Facebook had a challenge in which they asked you to put a song that always evokes a certain emotion. I know whenever I hear Destiny's Child cover "Emotions", I feel like crying a river.
There are countless (seriously...infinite) other ways that we exchange and take in energy. Smiles are a glorious way to touch people. The saying, "Your words have power..." also comes to mind. At times, we are not aware how energy is carried in the words we speak and the vibration in which they are delivered.
A few weeks ago, I took an introduction to pranic healing class that was facilitated by Jessica McMorris via Jujumama, LLC. In this class, we spoke of external Qigong (life energy cultivation) sources. There are 3 major external sources of energy:
Solar Prana or Sunlight
Air Prana which is accessed by deep breathing
Ground Prana which is transferred through the soles of our feet
Water actually absorbs Prana (the sanskrit word for 'life') from all 3 sources listed above.
And...Drumroll, Please
One of my favorite avenues for energy exchange is...you guessed it...sexual interaction.
As we evolve more and more and we begin to view sex as a spiritual and energetic exchange as opposed to merely a physical exchange of thrusts and bodily fluids, we become more in tune with what energies are being placed into each other.
Are we thinking happy thoughts while we are having sex?
Are we focusing merely on climax or on overall healing of self and our partner(s)?
Are we fully present in this moment or are we trapped in our thoughts worrying about something outside of this connection altogether?
These are just a few of the things we can become aware of in hopes of improving all kinds of energy exchange.
What are you taking in and what are you giving out? What are you settling for? What do you have to offer the world? Literally?
Increase your value...multiply your worth.
